Grief

It is not easy to live with grief;

grief confounds you:

it is the foe and the friend;

it is the storm

that causes your back

to bend;

it anchors and  grounds your days

It always persists and stays,

It is the visitor you dread

the tear you will forever shed;

it never ceases to morph

turning into anger and fear

a shadow you drag behind

memories you always rewind

of someone you lost so dear;

grief transforms your heart

into fragments of dust

and the person you have lost

has been you from the start.
